In 1967, the Happy Goodman Family released their fifth major label recording, Bigger 'N' Better, for Canaan records. The follow up to their classic "What A Happy Time" album had to be just as good, and the group was certainly up to the challenge. With the help of producer Marvin Norcross, and some of Nashville's top studio musician and writers, the Goodmans hit the jackpot once again. The excitement kicks in immediately with the album's leadoff track "When It All Starts Happening", and continues all the way to the fade out of the final song "Poor Rich Man".
Vocals were in top form here...Rusty on the Joel Hemphill penned "Not In A Million Years", Sam on "Born Again", Howard on "I Shall Be At Home With Jesus", Vestal on "I'm Building A Bridge", and even Bobby gives a stellar performance on another Hemphill song "Point Of No Return". Albums like Bigger 'N' Better paint a clear picture of how the Happy Goodman Family became one of Southern Gospel's biggest and most popular groups in the 60s, and why they are still so loved today. The title says it all when it comes to this album...the Happy Goodmans "Bigger 'N' Better"!
